Raised Crossings at Major Park Locations 3.75/5 (8)

Raised crossings slow traffic down at pedestrian heavy areas, as well as provide more visibility for the crosswalk. Per NYCDOT, raised crossings are “a marked pedestrian crosswalk at an intersection or a mid-block location constructed at a higher elevation than the adjacent roadway.” For busy, child-centric parks like Carroll Park in Carroll Gardens, raised crossings would force traffic on streets like Court Street and Smith Street to slow down. These streets regularly have cars that travel at double the posted speed limit. Thank you!
