Reroute traffic in front of the Backyard Community Garden in RedHook, on Summit, and make the traffic island there an extension of the Garden. Also, one or two speed bumps on 17th Street between Prospect Park West and 10th Ave. 4.43/5 (23)

First idea is to extend green/gardening space in RedHook at existing community garden. Second idea is in Windsor Terrace, speed bumps for traffic calming to protect neighbors, kids and the elderly from speeding drivers

  1. This is a great idea! So much better use of space. The Backyard gardeners would certainly maintain the landscaping tasks. They’ve demonstrated a strong horticultural presence at that corner for decades.
Traffic patterns would not be compromised. Tire tracks in the snow over the last five years show that only 2/3 of the existing asphalt at that intersection is used.
