One World Project’s Counselor in Training Program is designed for Spanish Speakers between the ages of 11 and 17 years old.
We would like to apply for PB funds to expand One World Proejct’s CIT program so that it can serve more participants and continue to provide scholarship to families in need.
One World Project’s CIT program provides opportunities to learn about social and emotional development, positive discipline, mediation, and teaching in a Spanish-immersion environment. In addition, CITs are provided with CPR and First Aid training. CITs are partnered with a Mentor Teacher whom they work with in One World Project’s Hola Summer camp program. CITs have time to observe, practice what they have learned, and reflect on what worked and what didn’t and why. Reflection happens in small groups and through daily journal entries.
The goal of the CIT program is to not only build a pipeline of new Spanish-speaking teachers but to also support CITs with tools so they can be better advocates and consensus builders.
