Parklets are commonplace in world class cities around the globe. New York has taken major strides toward becoming a greener city, and has been steadily updating roads to improve pedestrian and bicycle safety. In doing so, many opportunities are presenting themselves to build parklets near street corners where currently there is unused space. (See the intersection of 5th avenue and 9th street in park slope.) These unused spaces are perfect for creating tiny community spaces with seating and plant life to improve the quality of life for residents.
