Due to the concomitant factors of rising traffic violence (in 2020, Brooklyn -esp in our district-has experienced a higher rate of bicycle injuries and deaths than in the past) and the fact that biking has become a preferred mode of transit for many who are avoiding crowded subway and buses for Covid exposure reasons…. there are more bikes on the road in our district at a time when it is less safe to bike in our district. Can we get DOT to install more protected bike lines (ie, bike lanes against the curb, with parked cars outside the bike lane against moving traffic). Especially in the more dangerous areas of the district where more injuries and deaths have occurred this year, like Sunset Park, Kensington and along 3rd/4th aves?
