Protecting and Assisting Black Boys in School 2.5/5 (2)

This program develops and pilots a curriculum and intervention for boys of color at MS 51. This project is supported by the acting principal at the school. He will assist in its implementation. The curriculum assists boys and young men with the following: coping with racism, improving self regulation skills, developing relationships, buying into gender equity and good relationships with girls, dealing with emerging sexuality and a myriad of other help. The program will also bring in. mentors for those boys in need.

We believe that this program will reduce suspensions and expulsions, improve relationships and overall well being. Helping Black children navigate school successfully is a crucial ingredient in staunching the prison to school pipeline.
