Prospect Park: Hammock Grove No ratings yet.

So many people are using the stressed out trees in Prospect Park for hanging hammocks (among other things). This is so bad for the trees, creates abrasions in the bark that makes the trees even more vulnerable to deadly pathogens and disease. Creating a hammock grove (like the one on Governor’s Island: https://www.govisland.com/things-to-do/activities/hammocks) would be a chance to alleviate this stress to the trees, and be a educational opportunity, as most people probably don’t even know how bad hanging human weight on a tree trunk or its branches can be. The grove would not even need to provide the hammocks, just the posts, as many people already seem to have their own.
